A BIT MORE ABOUT LAUREN
Moment to Moment
To me, Moment to Moment is about the healing journey—how we grow, adapt, and find our way through life’s challenges, one moment at a time. As a uterine cancer survivor, and someone who has navigated trauma, mental health challenges, and the barriers of coming out, I understand firsthand that healing is not linear. It happens in moments.

Who I Am
I’m a Social Worker with over 20 years of front-line experience in mental health and substance use/addictions, specializing in harm reduction. I hold a Master’s in Social Work and am currently completing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
I take a creative, relational, and personalized approach to therapy—there’s no one-size-fits-all model. Healing should be tailored to who you are, and I integrate anti-oppressive, anti-racist, trauma-centered, and social justice perspectives into my work.
Therapy can be hard to access, especially if past experiences have been unwelcoming. I recognize this and strive to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and understood.
To meet each person’s unique needs, I draw from a variety of evidence-based and experiential approaches, including:
-
Brainspotting & Neuroplasticity
-
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
-
Solution-Focused Therapy
-
Narrative Therapy
-
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
-
Motivational Interviewing
-
Harm Reduction & Crisis Intervention
-
Art, Music, and Other Creative Modalities
Areas of Focus
I provide therapy and support in areas such as:
-
Mental health and substance use – addressing barriers through a harm reduction lens
-
Life-altering illnesses – supporting individuals with cancer, hormonal transitions (PMDD, menopause), HIV, Hep C, and other conditions
-
Trauma & Healing – helping individuals process and recover from difficult experiences
-
Housing instability – navigating challenges related to unaffordable housing, displacement, and systemic barriers
-
2SLGBTQ+ identity & coming out – providing affirming support for queer and trans individuals
-
Family transitions – adjusting to divorce, co-parenting, and single parenting
-
Career & school challenges – helping clients navigate stress, burnout, and life transitions
My Work in Education
For the past eight years, I have also taught courses in counseling skills, mental health, and substance use at several Ontario colleges. Currently, I am full-time faculty in an Addiction and Mental Health Worker program, where I am passionate about training and supporting future front-line workers.
Outside of Work
When I’m not working, I love learning new things, like playing the ukulele or exploring creative projects. You can also find me hanging out with my kiddo, swimming whenever I can, or tending to my plants and tiny balcony garden.
